-Lightly water the plant a few hours before packing (not soaking wet)
-Place a paper or biodegradable plastic bag over the pot to hold in soil and moisture
-Secure the bag around the base with a soft tie or rubber band
-Damp, not dripping – prevent rot and mess
-Wrap the pot base and sides with 2–3 layers of padding (paper, cardboard, or biodegradable wrap)
-Avoid over-tight wrapping around the stem
-For heavy pots, line the bottom of the box with shredded paper or crumpled kraft
-Use a cardboard collar or sleeve around stems to stop them moving
-For tall plants, tape a stick beside the stem for stability
-Insert air holes if foliage is enclosed
-Movement = damage..... keep it snug
-Select a box just big enough for plant + padding (no extra void space)
-Fill all gaps with crumpled paper or shredded cardboard – no bouncing!
-Snug fit = safe trip
